Wrapping up and getting ready for #FGS2015

As we are thinking about putting away the holiday decorations, and reflect on the past year, are you getting your genealogy research list ready for the Family History Library?

I’m trying to get my to-do research list finished.  Every time I go to the Family History library it never fails I lose something, as well as gaining lots of knowledge.  I think I will take Amy Urman’s advice and label everything.   The big thing to remember is that the week of the FGS/Rootstech conference, the Family History Library will be busy.   The volunteers may be busy helping others, the reader machines and computers may be full.  Have your list of books and film ready so you can switch and do something else; be prepared to share.  Don’t forget your pencil and paper to keep track of those CITATIONS!  Most of us forget to cite what we have found.  Just this weekend I found a few sheets of research mixed in with a  craft convention paperwork from 2007 which I did a quick stop into the Family History Library, most likely typed a family name into the computer and hit print, thinking “awesome find” and then had to go back to the convention..  before you ask…yes, it was missing citations!   Lesson learned…

Did you hear….. Former First Lady Laura Bush and Jenna Bush Hager will be keynote speakers on Friday, February 13.  See the article on FGS Voice Blog here. It’s not to late Register for FGS 2015 today.
